Thursday at the Elysee Palace in Paris saw Giorgio Armani decorated as Officer of the Legion of Honor. The Italian designer was given this honour by President Nicolas Sarkozy who, according to WWD, noted of the designer, his capability "of speaking to everyone" with his diverse designs and products that run the gamut from couture to pastries.

Many came out for the event, which was at the tail end of couture week, to congratulate Armani including Carla Fendi, Tina Turner and Dame Helen Mirren who told WWD, "The first time I had a posh dress, it was Armani".
