With poor sales with Vogue, Teen Vogue and the closure of Men's Vogue this year, people are quick to jump to conclusions. For months, the rumour mill has been spinning that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour was out the door. Only recently, Gossip blogs such as Gawker speculated that Condé Nast Publications chairman S.I. Newhouse Jr. made a pit stop in Paris to speak with Wintour's French counterpart, editor-in-chief of Vogue France Carine Roifeld and negotiate a deal to replace Wintour in the States.
Newhouse received a fax of the Gawker's article and simply said "It's the silliest rumor I ever heard. There's no truth to it" according to WWD. Roifeld also confirmed the rumours are not true stating she was in London at a fashion shoot and that she is very happy at Vogue France. |
