According to WWD, Robert Polet, president and chief executive officer of Gucci Group, announced today that the Alexander McQueen business will go on despite McQueen's death last week.
However, prior to his death, FT's Jeanne Beker spoke with the designer in San Francisco asking him about his feelings on the business if he was no longer actively involved. McQueen states in the interview, "because that person would have to come up with the concepts from my show and my shows are so personal, how can that be?" Regardless, Polet spoke at PPR's annual results presentation saying, "We believe in the future of the brand. Lee was very proud of the people working in his company, and so am I." A McQueen collection will show at Paris Fashion Week (March 2-10, 2010). |
