"Love is a rebellious bird that no one can tame." Operanation 6 Habanera, preseted by Canadian Opera Company, promises to be just that, a celebration of the passionate and rebellious love from Carmen, through the seductive and spicy rhythms of the Habanera. This unforgettable event will be held at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on February 26, 2010 and will be hosted by Fashion Television's own Glen Baxter.
Many of Toronto's young urban professionals will enjoy both a great party and the arts during a cocktail reception. The classic culture of Spain will be celebrated with tapas, a full paella bar, mojitos, Latin dancers, Spanish dance lessons and a hilarious interpretation of Carmen by the improv troupe National Theatre of the World. No Carmen inspired event will be complete without dancing! DJ Nick Fiorucci will spin the infectious beats throughout the night. Of course, the crème de la crème of the evening will be when mezzo-soprano Lauren Segal from Carmen, accompanied by the award-winning percussion quartet of TorQ will present the essence of Bizet's sizzling-hot opera. All proceeds from the evening are in support of the Canadian Opera Company and their education and outreach programs. Don't miss out on this incredible event which will seduce your senses just like the original seductress herself, Carmen.
