DesignersForDarfur, founded in 2007 by designer Malcolm Harris (Mal Sirrah, Inc.) and model Lydia Hearst-Shaw, in association with “FT-FashionTelevision” and Steve Madden, hosted an unprecedented charity fashion show aimed to raise funds and awareness on behalf of the Save Darfur Coalition.
For this amazing event, nearly 100 of America’s leading designers created one complete ensemble in red, yellow, green or black to be featured in a star-studded fashion show. The fashion industry’s top models, hair and make-up artists as well as wardrobe stylists donated their time, talent and assistance to show commitment and solidarity toward ending the atrocity of genocide currently taking place in Darfur.
Participating runway designers include: Mal Sirrah, Donna Karan, L.A.M.B., Heatherette, Baby Phat, Chado Ralph Rucci, Naeem Khan, Jason Wu, Jeremy Scott, Perry Ellis, Mike & Chris, Carlos Miele, John Bartlett, Bonnie Young, Luca Luca, Nicole Miller, Costume National and many, many more. Plus, Steve Madden as the presenting sponsor is providing footwear for all the designers. Oprah Winfrey, Joss Stone, Roberto Cavalli, Kanye West, Mia Farrow, Maria Bello, Don Cheadle, Russell Simmons and a host of other generous advocates, talent and politicians are expected to be there to show their support.
The Fashion Show was streamed live on eBay followed by a live auction of these specially-created runway looks with 100% of all profits going directly to the Save Darfur Coalition.
